This forum has been set - up to provide a space for people who have been throught the BACP's Professional Conduct procedure to talk about their experience and to share information or seek advice.
It is not here to allow people just to moan or to be angry or insult anybody or any organisation but to see if there are any shared experiences that can be addressed by a group of people rather than an individual, to work out if maybe there is a way to form an organisation to support our brothers and sisters in counselling and psychotherapy if they are unlucky enough to have this process descend on them.
I've been through the process and found it demeaning humiliating and very amateur, given that withdrawal of membership or accreditation may lead to loss of employment and all that may mean, the people who operate this system are very powerful indeed. Are we not entitled to an opinion regarding improving the process?
None of us supports malpractice but we are all entitled to unconditional personal support when things go wrong, that help needs to be free if possible.
A group of people from OUTSIDE the control of the organisation may be the starting point for a discussion on how we may be able to exercise some influence over the disciplinary process
Please submit your experiences and ideas and maybe we can discern common threads that might lead us to formulate something that we can take forward. Good Luck.
